Puhoi Landcare is a subcommittee of the Puhoi Community Forum. The governance body meet the last Tuesday of the month at 6.30pm at the Puhoi Sports Club. Below is a brief outline of our purpose, objectives and goals. Further information can be found on our website Puhoi Landcare.
Designated Area
The pest plan covers a designated control area of 13,500 hectares. It is bordered by SH1, Waiwera Valley, Tahekeroa Rd; Wech Access Rd; West Coast Rd; Woodcocks Rd and Redwoods.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this group is to
1. Drive/organize/coordinate pest control activities in the designated area to protect and enhance the natural environment; and to allow native flora and fauna to flourish, and become self-sustaining.
2. Assist all types of land use to protect their properties and assets from pests.
3. Provide information, education, advice and support to individual landowners.
4. Support local pest control which is sustainable long term.
OBJECTIVES
1. Make public the Puhoi Pest Management Plan (PMP) to address pest control specifically in the designated area.
2. Build constructive relationships with individual landowners to assist with pest control on their land.
3. Ensure landowners have education, information and support to enable pest control on their land.
4. Achieve measurable improvement in flora and fauna.
5. Build working relationships with Auckland Council, DOC and QE11as landowners.
6. Prevent re-infestation in areas that have been cleared of pests.
7. Be able to measure success using baseline data from monitoring done at the beginning and end of the specified time frame set in the PMP.
8. Ensure sustained control of pests through current best practice methods.
GOALS
1. Gain public support and buy-in through having outcomes that people, communities and public administrators can easily relate to, and be involved with.
2. Attract sponsors and funding.
3. The restoration of the natural environment, such as bush, wetlands, riparian areas, etc, to enhance biodiversity, including fauna and flora.
